Get Involved
Since 1941, the Friends of the Elmhurst Public Library have enhanced the Library’s resources and supported Library programs through funds from their dues and various fundraising ventures. Working separately but alongside the Library, the Friends further the mission of the Library by securing materials beyond the scope of the ordinary budget to add further enrichment opportunities to the citizens of Elmhurst.
Here are some of the ways the Friends add value to the Library and your experience:
- Donating funds for prizes for thousands of children, teens, and adults in the popular summer reading program.
- Dedicating the benches at the Library entrances.
- Purchasing eReaders for kids, teens, and adults to check out.
- Partnering with the Library to bring in authors to support large-scale programming efforts, like Elmhurst READS and One Book, One Elmhurst.
- Sponsoring Writing Contests
Anyone can become a member of the Friends of Elmhurst Public Library by filling out an online application and paying annual dues. Dues range from $30 (Individual) to $200 (Benefactor) per year. These dues go directly to benefit the Library.
Friends of the Elmhurst Public Library is a 501(c)(3) organization and accepts funds through employer matched contributions and bequests.
