What’s the Creative Studio?

The Creative Studio is a do-it-yourself space that offers access to high-end equipment and software needed to complete digital audio, visual, and graphic projects.

The Creative Studio consists of three rooms available to valid Library cardholders high school age or older:
Studio A is the largest, perfect for music recording or green screen photo sessions. Studios B & C are smaller, designed for editing or graphics work and more independent projects.


Reservations are recommended and may be made by Elmhurst Public Library cardholders. Walk-in users will be accepted if the Creative Studio is not currently in use or scheduled for use.

Creative Studio Hours:
Monday – Friday 9 a.m.-8:30 p.m.
Saturday 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Sunday 1 p.m.-4:30 p.m.

Reserve a Creative Studio

Make your reservation by contacting us via phone, chat, text, or email.

Drop-in reservations are available if the room is not in use.

  • Making a Reservation

    • EPL cardholders high school aged and older can make reservations up to seven days in advance.
    • If specific Creative Studio equipment is needed for your project, we recommend you reserve them at the same time as the room.
    • Reservations can be made for up to four hour increments.
    • You can only have one reservation at a time.
    • Reservations are held for 15 minutes after start time. After 15 minutes the room will be made available to other patrons.
    • Drop-ins are welcome to use the Creative Studio if a room is available.
    • Your library card or a photo ID must be presented when you arrive to use the space.
    • Adult supervision is required for anyone below the age of high school.

Studio A

  • Maximum capacity of six people
  • Mac Mini (M1 2020)
  • 27" Asus ProArt Display
  • Software includes:
  • Adobe Creative Cloud, iMovie, GarageBand, Logic Pro, Final Cut, and more
  • Vocal microphone with stand and XLR cable
  • Instrument microphone with stand and XLR cable
  • Keyboard MIDI controller
  • Electronic drum kit with two drum sticks
  • Video lights (3)
  • Scarlet Digital Audio Interface (Audio Rack)
  • Headphone amplifier
  • Epson Perfection V600 Photo flatbed scanner

Studios B & C

  • Maximum capacity of three people
  • Mac Mini (M1 2020)
  • 27" Asus ProArt Display
  • Software includes:
  • Adobe Creative Cloud, iMovie, GarageBand, Logic Pro, Final Cut, and more
  • Epson Perfection V600 Photo flatbed scanner

Creative Studio Equipment

Plan Your Visit

The Creative Studio offers a do-it-yourself space, so plan on extra time when learning something new.


Bring something to save your project on like a flash drive or an external hard drive. Some users also save their projects to online storage services. Projects cannot be saved on Creative Studio computers.

  • Can I reserve the Creative Studio?

    Yes! Reservations are highly encouraged. EPL cardholders high school aged and older can make reservations up to seven days in advance.

  • Can I bring a family member or guest to my reservation?

    Yes. The Library cardholder is responsible for any guests they choose to bring into the space. Creative Studio A has a maximum capacity of six people. Both Studios B & C have maximum capacities of three people.

  • Who can use the Creative Studio?

    Equipment and room usage are available to valid Library cardholders high school aged and older and require the presentation of a valid Library card or photo ID (Drivers License, State ID, or High School ID) upon arrival.


    Adult supervision is required for anyone below the age of high school.

  • What does the Creative Studio cost?

    The Creative Studio is free to use to valid Library card holders.

  • Can I get help with my project?

    Staff is available to help you get started on projects and answer general questions. More involved questions may require attendance at an upcoming Technology program, a LinkedIn Learning video tutorial, or using the Library’s informative collection.

  • How can I learn to use Creative Studio equipment?

    LinkedIn Learning helps anyone learn software, technology, creative, and business skills to achieve their personal and professional goals through online video tutorials and trainings on demand.
