Special Access Center
- The Special Access Center on the second floor near the Silent Study Room offers an Aladdin Reader and assistive technology software on two computers for people with vision impairments and other special needs. It was funded by a grant from the Elmhurst Noon Lions Club.

Assistive Technology Study Room
- This room provides a sound-isolated environment, which allows people to use voice-activated software, or work with an assistant, without disturbing other patrons. Typical users have low vision/blindness, autism, speech-related impairments, dyslexia and other print-related learning disabilities, or physical mobility impairments. ESL (English as a Second Language) students amy also be able to use some of the software.

- Computer with Internet access
- Magic Touch screen enlarger/touch screen
- Headphones with microphone
- Scanner

- Powered adjustable-height workstation
Scheduling and Using the Room:
- An Elmhurst Public Library card is required. Children who aren't eligible for an Elmhurst Library card, but attend an Elmhurst school, may use the room if they show a school I.D. card.
- Children aged 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult
- The room can accommodate no more than 2 people at a time.
- Reservations may be made up to one week in advance for up to 2 hours of use. Call the Magazines/Newspapers Desk at 630-279-8696 to make a reservation.
- Reservations will be held for 10 minutes after the designated time.
- Walk-ins may use th room in blocks of up to 2 hours on a first come, first served basis if there are no reservations.
