Around 450 Elmhurst residents joined the "Last Book Brigade," a human chain which passed hand-to-hand the last book moved from the Wilder Mansion to the new library. The last book was "The Library" by Sarah Stewart, a story of a woman whose collection of books grows and grows and grows.
Elmhurst Boy Scout Troop #78 raised the flag at the new library.
After the flag was raised, the Girl Scouts of Edison School sang "America."
