Volunteers

General Assistants
Middle school students can apply to be General Assistants during the school year. An EPL library card is required.

General Assistants help the librarians with chores such as making nametags for storytimes, cleaning books, stapling, and pulling books from the shelves for displays. General Assistants work one hour a week, for 8 weeks.

Summer Reading Table Volunteers
Students going into grades 6 - 9 in Fall 2010 can apply for a position as a Summer Reading Table Volunteer. An EPL library card is required.

These volunteers work two hours per week at the Summer Reading Table, registering children to participate in the Summer Reading Program, and handing out prizes.

Book Buddies
Students going into grades 6 - 9 in Fall 2010 will be able to apply to be a Book Buddy. An EPL library card is required.

Book Buddies are paired with second and third graders, and together they read and play reading games, once a week for seven weeks.

Summer Reading Table Substitutes
We will be looking for 30 substitutes to fill in at the Summer Reading Table when other volunteers are unable to work their shifts. Applicants must be entering grades 6 - 9 in the fall of 2010

Program Assistants

The Library will be looking for 15 responsible, friendly volunteers (who are going into grades 6 - 9 in Fall 2010) to be Program Assistants. Program Assistants will interact with kindergarten and first grade children as they practice reading skills through games and reading activities. An EPL library card is required.
